Your privacy is our core priority. Toki - Screen Time Tracker is built with a privacy-first architecture, ensuring that your digital footprint remains entirely under your own control.
1. Information We Collect & How We Use It
Toki runs 100% locally in your web browser. Here is exactly how your data is handled:
- Active Browsing Data: The extension tracks the active browser tab's URL and title to count the time you spend on each website. This tracking happens entirely on your machine. We never upload, transmit, or share your browsing history.
- Idle State Detection: We use the browser's idle API to detect when you step away from your device so that screen time tracking pauses. This state is evaluated in-memory and is not recorded or sent anywhere.
- Storage: All your daily statistics and category settings are saved locally on your device via Chrome's local storage API (
chrome.storage.local).
2. License Verification & Billing Data
If you choose to purchase Toki Pro:
- Payments are securely processed by Dodo Payments (our Merchant of Record). Dodo Payments collects your billing details, email address, and payment information during checkout. Their collection is subject to the Dodo Payments Privacy Policy.
- To unlock Pro features, the extension sends your entered license key to Dodo Payments' public API for verification and activation. No browsing history, tracking statistics, or private information is sent with this license request.
3. Data Deletion
Because all data is stored on your local device, we do not possess any of your tracking data. You can delete your tracked history at any time by:
- Opening the Toki Popup, going to Settings, and selecting "Clear History".
- Uninstalling the Toki extension from Chrome, which automatically wipes all associated local storage databases.
4. Permissions Justification
Toki requests only the minimum permissions required to perform its functions:
